The Weekend Shorts and Striped Tee Inside Denim Jacket

I have a denim jacket, but it’s darker than this one and still less fit than I expected. I used to have one when I was a kid, but lost it somewhere. Denim jacket is such a timeless piece. It goes over the classic casual style, but also appropriate for business meeting when you put it on with a crisp with shirt and a skinny tie.

A striped tee is what everyone must have in their wardrobe. It’s just a staple piece that would fit any kind of personal style, vintage to modern. Here I am pairing it with a khaki short, which I happen to have one too. Been wearing it all the time these days. I couldn’t believe I have the guts to pull it.

The Porter tote bag is in my current wish list. It’s not like any other tote bag. This one is pretty simple, less detail, in a masculine black color, yet also not so big in size. Which is good. It’s enough to bring all your weekend needs, IDs, camera, gadget. Anything.

Finish the look with a pair of colorful sneakers.

That Fashion Editor

It’s been a year, and a month, exactly today, that I am writing about fashion (for the office - magazine - I work at, now). It’s been a year and a half I work for the company. The longest to date I have been in a job (in Jakarta).

The past 10 working years I have random jobs on my list, agriculture consultant, art and English teacher, radio broadcaster to script writer. Now, I am an editor. And also a fashion editor.

The first 4 months in the current job I didn’t write about fashion. The fifth month it shifted. Until now. I know I have a thing or too about fashion, but writing about the subject is still new to me. Am I happy? I am. I never thought that I would do this thing I do right now.

And I would like to cheer for myself. Probably, I am the only fashion editor who goes to office in dandy clothes inside a public bus, everyday. I know people would see me differently, but there’s nothing I could do. It’s the cheapest transport, mind the traffic, non air con, and sweaty session I have to experience on my route to and from the office. But I know I have to pay my due.

Cheers to this fashion editor. Who sweat his way to the office inside a 2 cents bus ride and managed to attend Louis Vuitton invitation in the evening. I managed to do it and I am okay.

I called this the sophisticated rock and roll editor’s look. Some of the items here are on my wish list, some already owned. The ring and the varsity jacket with the leather sleeves are such hot items, especially the varsity jacket. It’s the kind of jacket that everyone should have to twist their personal look more edgier, more rebel-ish. And somehow it’s kind of
different with the varsity jacket which debuted back a year or two ago.

With a button down shirt, this rock and roll sophisticated look gets a preppy insight.

The statement ring should be also on a man’s list. They should wear one or two on two fingers next to each other. Trucker hat is a huge comeback, also with the snapback. But I know I am a trucker hat dude. The one I feature here is similar with the one I actually have. Instead of black denim pants you can change it with a cobalt blue denim or simply dark blue jeans. Suit yourself.

The Perfect Man’s Bag

The quest to find the perfect bag, for my daily activities, has went equally important with the quest to find a life partner.

I know the bag I am looking for, which is still under constant search, should fulfill some important points.

As a media slave, it is important for me to find THAT bag which is classy, sleek and mature, won’t make me look like some photograph-hunting amateurs, and has that solid versatility in my hand to bring it dynamically during day and night events which I am frequently attending.

The bag should also looks very light, masculine, but I could put my fat digital camera inside when I have the urge to snap some moments, notebooks, gadgets, even my laptop without having to look damn heavy.

It should express style, but not flamboyant. When people look at me with the bag, they knew I am not some hyper metrosexual dude who constantly needing attention with things they have or wear. But they should know instantly that the dude who brings the bag is educated, got class, and not that self centered. The least I am expecting, the bag stands for my social class or whatever.

It should be black, or dark blue, or dark brown with minimum details.It should not show any brand’s plate or prints or monograms. I want people to guess what brand that is. But deep inside I want it to be some brand people don’t know.

Have I found it? I haven’t. But the image above more or less enlightens me. Functionality and practicality wrapped with style.

Ini adalah cerita tentang angka delapan.

Seorang sahabat yang baru menikah hari Minggu lalu, menikah di tanggal 26 Mei 2013. Dua ditambah enam adalah delapan.

Minggu depan, rencananya ada pernikahan lain lagi, juga sahabat saya, yang kemungkinan besar akan saya hadiri. Pasangan yang saya kenal baik ini, karena keduanya junior di kampus dulu, akan menikah 8 Juni 2013.

Angka delapan terakhir adalah nomor kamar yang saya tinggali selama hampir satu tahun terakhir.

I guess, my number is 8, after all.

Sometimes I envy women cause they have so many types of shoes to try, to wear. Nowadays designers are competing in creating shoes even with wicked-est details for shoe adorers. With celebrity clients such as Jennifer Lopez, if I were a woman, this brand is definitely on my list.
